About the process

Openings and contours to your drawing

CNC punching uses a tool to create openings according to a programmed pattern. Nibbling creates a contour through a series of smaller cuts. Typical uses include perforated panels, ventilation openings and blanks for subsequent bending or assembly.

Preparation covers the shape and position of openings, dimensions critical to assembly and any further processing. The choice between punching and laser cutting depends on the drawing, quantity and available tooling.

Frequently asked questions

Does the drawing need to define every opening?

The shape, size and position of openings must be clear. For repeated patterns, specify the pitch and number of repeats. Highlight any openings critical to assembly.

When should punching be considered instead of laser cutting?

The choice depends on geometry, material, quantity and available tooling. Send your drawing for review so we can assess which process suits the part requirements.
